Change currency? NO.

Those of us who have had the game since the begining should be rewarded more so then the people who are just now buying the game.

If I've played for over a year, and have millions of gold its because I grinded for it in the first place.

FoW and UW can still be farmed from factions and ecto droped LONG before factions came out.

There are plenty of places to faction farm and earn 10k Kurz or Luxon faction in 30min - 1 hour. Turn this in for Amber or Jade and sell for 700g - 800g each, thats a quick 7k - 8k depending on the price.

As wel there are places to farm greens that range in price from 15k - 100k + 10 ecto.

I think there are too many rares that drop in factions all I seem to get is Amber Long Bow Req 12 15^50%, Amber long bow req 9 15/-5, amber long bow 15 in a stace.. etc...

There was never drops like this in prophecies for every 15^50% item i got 20-30 14^50% or 13^50%, I think we all forget about that which is why gold items where worth more...

There are more useable gold drops then non useable drops in faction IMO.

I understand as well....I dont farm and I dont see a need to have uber weapons and armor.
So I DONT.......
I play pve, I have better armor for all my characters, but I got it the old fashioned way---I earned it....it took quite a while in prophecy to get 15k armor (got it for the looks)....and never got fow (its butt ugly)......
How? I did each and every quest......all of them for all of my characters, I collected and saved.....I still save materals (glad for that in storage!)....and I do all the quests for factions as well.....
I have some of the new armor.... I DIDNOT buy any jade or amber, just did the quests, got the reward and after I had reached my 10k for the next quest....I turned it in for the amber/jade.....with 5 characters ---thats a lot of quests and a ton of faction (over 60k for each area and some of my characters are not finished yet).....
So you can play the game easily without the green weapons and the uber armor.....go to the collectors, most of that armor is just as good, and the weapons from the collectors are as well. You dont need the uber elite mods either.....the collector weapons are just as good (or if you do have a bit of cash checkout the weapons smiths in leviathan pits or vasburg armory....most of those weapons are better than the green ones!)....I dont have any characters with weapons that have perfect stats....if I happened to get a good drop I might have salvaged a few just as good (dont see the need to have a 20% chance when 18% is just as good and free for the salvaging).

I agree with the op.....there is no real need for the elite weapons and uber armor.....you can go along just as well with the collector stuff ----and if you really really need to have the other.....save up for it.. I dont have tons of plat in storage.....and I have fun playing the game....I dont worry about that stuff.

Factions was much different than prophecys.....and I still go back on the missions in the jungle and such to get loot (the drops are better for the common stuff there)....and I dont see that as a problem....when I needed silk I farmed the spider webs from quarrel falls (took a loooooong time, but it was pretty much free---and gave me and my guildee something to do).....when my new toons needed armor in factions I already had some of the materials saved up for it (I knew that there would be new armor and that it would probably need to have materials to create it, so I used a bit of forethought and saved up)......I got the basic armor....got others from collectors (hey that was fun to just farm areas on the starter island just for stuff for the collectors). And I saved up for the armor for when I got to Kaineig.....forethought and a few hours spent on guildwiki and these forums looking for the materials lists for the new armors. Yeah leveling up was faster, it was more fun in prophecys....but this chapter was made as the addition to the first one with the understanding that many people already had prophecys and didnt want to spend the time to level their characters up......not really good for the new people. (but great for sales of prophecys ).

For the OP, one of the easiest way to make gold is to make a 55 monk.

On average its around 6-7GPS (Gold per sec) which is around roughly 24k/hour for pure gold farming.

UW duo runs usually makes more depending on their luck with ectos. That is how most non Flea Bayers afford to doll up in GW.

There are many 55hp monk builds around the forums which you can easily find, though boring but it is a means to an end.

Edit for spelling.

i havent been farming since factions release, but as my characters are by now more or less through both campaigns i started to farm again. i certainly dont farm a lot, and if i do, i go for a farm that goes fast, thats trolls or desert minotaurs (elona). i do +/- 5 runs for trolls, and about the same for elona, can be done in half an hour, doesnt get you much honestly, but if you do it every day it starts to add up in the end. the rewards are pretty low, but it goes fast, and thats all im asking for, not really a farmer i guess

well I'm powertrader but I can agree to the op. I made a new assassin and the 1.5k armor price is just ridiculous. you need much steel or even more expansive materials. a "newbie" cannot afford those plats after newbie island.

BS!
I just posted above that I passed a character through the island doing
nothing more than the missions and quests, and got to the mainland
with enough gold and materials to buy the 1.5k armor.
It's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact.

This rant is ridiculous considering the options available to you with collectors weapons and armor. Anet has done well IMO to give you LOTS of opportunities to upgrade your gear throughout Tyria and Cantha. Do the quests and you will gather a decent amount of the items and spend a little coin to buy the rest that you need. You are not forced to do excessive farming to have decent gear, just many choose to so they can have the prettier gear.

I slightly agree on the green drop rate being rather harsh. I played two characters thru the complete Factions story line before I got a Cantha green. But ohh well... I prefer the gold drops better anyway.

I agree with the OP on the expense of buying maxed armor when starting a new character in factions, admittedly i had'nt considered this coming from prophecies first. I went to the bank when my Rt needed his new armor after leaving the newbie area and never gave it any thought. So I can see how a new player, not knowing how to make money as fast as a more experienced player could get frustrated.

I dont understand the why the OP has such a problem with players who can afford to, buying expensive items when guild wars caters for cheaper versions of the same weapons and armor. If I have the money, and want to make this virtual character I love playing look good what's the problem? You dont want to spend that much money on obsidian armor then fine, go buy droks or kaining, its exactly the same stats wise. Oh you do want obsidian armor? fine but its supposed to be worked hard for! So go farm.

Where exactly can you farm 10k factions in 30 minutes?
